An Epidemiological Study on the Hair Cadmium Levels in Some Adults.

Abstract
|
|
|
174 Korean adults´ (97 male and 77 female in Chonnam area) hair samples were measured for hair cadmium levels and analyzed with several epidemiological factors and following results were obtained:
1. Average hair cadmium levels were 1.23 ppm for male and 0.99 ppm for female.
2. Average hair cadmium levels were increased as a function of age, but moderate declines were observed over 40 years of age in both sex.
3. Significant differences were present in hair cadmium level by smoking status in male.
4. There was a significant positive correlation between hair cadmium level and diastolic blood pressure.
5. Relationship between water source and hair cadmium level was not significant.
